Dear Mechanicville Community,
On Thursday, February 15th, the Board of Education (BOE) adopted an emergency resolution in response to the urgent need to address the deteriorating condition of the drainage system on the west side of campus, as well as the Elementary School roadway (between our Junior-Senior High and Elementary Schools).
The overgrowth and debris covering the drainage system at this location has significantly compromised functionality, leading to severe drainage issues and exacerbating erosion problems on our roads. Immediate action is required to restore the drainage system to its original capacity and mitigate the risk of further damage to campus infrastructure.
Additionally, emergency measures will be taken to repair the ES roadway, which has been extensively impacted by water and erosion. This will involve the ES road being milled, compacted, and smoothed out to allow for safe passage up and down the hill.
We are pleased to announce that this work will commence next week during the winter recess. There will be no impact on access to the Elementary School throughout the week nor any impact for the return to school on Monday, February 26th. Our priority is to carry out the necessary remediation efforts efficiently while minimizing disruption to the school schedule. By swiftly addressing these critical issues, this work aims to safeguard campus facilities and remediate safety hazards on campus, ensuring the uninterrupted flow of essential services across the campus. We are committed to maintaining the integrity and safety of our campus infrastructure while ensuring a smooth transition back to school after the recess.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you.
