Ten Mechanicville Elementary students were recognized in May for the 37th Annual Sandra G. Morley Physical Education Student Leadership Award. The program is usually held at Hudson Valley Community College and is put on by the Capital Zone chapter of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (NYSAHPERD). Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, the ceremony had to be canceled. Hundreds of students were chosen from over thirty school districts and twelve counties were recognized. Physical Education teachers Mike Tavani and Katie McBride selected students, Callie Halabuda, Lily Golden, Natalie Dion, Aiden Fitzgerald, Luke Bronson, Lawton Bronson, Jacob Williams, Mason Krosky, Kyle Cuilla and Antonio Toledo as the honorees. Coach Tavani and Coach McBride have said that these students have demonstrated responsible personal and social behavior, sportsmanship, and citizenship, and a desire to learn and improve. They also have exhibited a physically active lifestyle, demonstrated leadership and have been a positive influence on peers, while contributing toward the total school program. Congratulations to all students!
