We are Mechanicville High School which is located at the southern tip of Saratoga County with an enrollment of approximately 425 students. We offer a comprehensive instructional program to all students in grades 9-12 in addition to a wide range of extracurricular activities including athletics, the arts, and clubs that are both specific to a cause or help develop students’ interests, such as SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) and Drama Club.
In the fall of the 2003-04 school year, Mechanicville High School opened a new science laboratory. Our state-of-the-art lab allows students who take chemistry and physics the opportunity to participate in all the lab requirements mandated by the New York State Regents, as well as those recommended by various colleges and universities. This not only allows our students to meet the State standards, but also allows them to gain valuable experience that will help them be successful at the college level.
Mechanicville High School also opened a new gymnasium in the winter of 2003. This modern facility is used for our physical education classes as well as provides a home for our athletic teams. This gymnasium was part of a comprehensive project that upgraded our athletic facilities. This project also included the construction of a new football field, baseball field, and softball field. Also, a new weight and wrestling room were added.
In addition to the new facilities, Mechanicville High School has a four lane 75’ x 25’ swimming pool. The pool is used by our physical education classes, as well as by many groups within our community and clubs and organizations affiliated with our schools.
Mechanicville High School also offers our students the latest in computer technology. Our computer labs and distance learning labs give our students the opportunity to research, create, and develop projects from several different disciplines, develop and create web sites, and gain access to advanced computer applications and programs. Our labs are open to classroom teachers and their classes, as well as to individual students who need computer time to complete assignments. We also house a distance learning classroom giving students a diverse array of courses offered by other high schools on the BOCES distance learning network, including courses where Advanced Placement (AP) students can take to pursue college credit . All instruction is done in real time with live video showing the host and all remote schools.
The Mechanicville High School opened the doors to its new media center in the winter of the 2002-2003 school year. This beautiful facility is spacious and offers our students a warm and inviting place to do research, as well as a quiet place to study. We offer numerous volumes of research literature and many periodicals for the students to ably conduct scholastic research.
In the 1992-93 school year, Mechanicville High School opened the Paul Luther Memorial Auditorium. This spacious facility seats 750 people. It is used for many school events, as well as many community activities.
Our Mechanicville High School prides itself on its community and heritage. We are centrally located to many popular cities around the capital region and maintain a structured, progressive environment centered around progress, student success, and opening doors of opportunity as we prepare our students for successful careers during and after their time at MHS.
